Never as in this moment, eating at home, alone, with family or with friends, is one of the activities that we most love to do. That’s why the kitchen is one of the most explored territories by designers, where functionality and aesthetics are combined into a single project. Novy is a manufacturer of hoods and induction plans which at Interieur 2014 presented the project conceived for the third edition of “5×5”. This is an event where 5 selected companies from Belgium have the opportunity to work to an innovative product concept with 10 designers (5 senior and 5 junior) over the course of a year. Novy was one of 5 and the proposed project was Adaptive: a hood that exhausts its function going to investigate thoroughly about how habits have changed and how we have transformed the perception of the space in which we cook: no more a technical environment, but a new space to enjoy and to show, devoted to conviviality. In solutions increasingly integrated to living, the hood designed by Novy has a minimal design that does not betray its function, with an enclosure designed to be customized according to the type of atmosphere we want to create. Lights and colours play on different intensities, with great attention to technology: smart sensors create a connection with the stove, more or less open depending on the amount of steam, so that everything is ready at the same time and the cook can enjoy both preparing the meal and entertaining his guests.
