Catuma reveals in preview Levante, a frame with a resolute character, strong, as the steel front, but graceful, like the wind from which borrows the name. The Catuma collection ArTchitecture celebrating the link between art, architecture and nature enriches itself with new models, small works of craftsmanship and engineering excellence to collect as design objects. The new glasses series will be presented during Silmo 2017, in Paris from 6 to 9 of October.

A frame in which Zeiss lenses, treated with blue anti-reflection, are embedded in a metal structure reminiscent of the style loved by Eileen Gray, in which steel dominated. A robust and stable material, but extremely malleable at the same time, able to model itself creating textural virtuosities. The unusual top of this model is composed by an upper protruding part in steel, in which we find the game of solids and voids. This projection, as the mirror image, is reflected also internally, creating a model with blinkers, that brings to mind the aviator model, so linear when viewed frontally, but so complicated if admired laterally.

The steel volutes that enrich the Levante frame, are embellished with cork inserts treated with metallic varnish or decorated with elegant swirls in lamè. As well as in architecture the articulation of the structures makes sure that they appear graceful, so the mixture between small elements, between the solids and the voids of the steel front and between the cork decorations, creates dynamism in this very elegant Catuma model.

The use of cork, fabric and steel, makes the model “Levante”, available in five different colours, completely sustainable. The nature affects men’s works, in a mix between naturalness and functionality. The architecture does not impose itself, but let the atmospheric phenomena, like wind, smooth its shapes and let the nature shows itself. This is the Catuma soul: it interacts with the individual’s personality, dressing it, enriching it, enhancing the uniqueness of it but not covering it.

Catuma is study of materials, excellence and applied design applied. A story of passion for high quality beauty. After the success of the stone and wood series launched in 2014, Catuma decided to evolve, while maintaining the elements that made the brand famous, minerals and wood essences, combined with high technology. In January 2015 launched the carbon fiber and steel collection, combined with stone and wood veneers, followed by “Surrealist”, inspired by the artistic trend, made of steel, stone and wood veneers and from “ArTchitecture”, made of steel and noble essences, launched in 2016.

Catuma is a young brand of eyewear Made in Puglia, which designs and develops high quality spectacles and sunglasses. The brand has been created by the unceasing search of perfection and innovation endlessly evolving, from the desire for novelty and to make experiment with materials not usually declined in the eyewear industry; Catuma comes from a challenge, from the desire to get involved and to give free rein to the creative “madness”.

The name of the brand was born in Andria, Puglia, and takes its name from the city’s main square, named Catuma. According to the Catuma philosophy in fact, itis not possible to refuse ideas, because they have to be expressed in many ways that lead to a single square.

The exploration of every art form, from painting to sculpture, from design to architecture and finally fashion, creates unique, oxymoronic collections, where high technology is mixed with craftsmanship symbols.
