The international trade-fair Habitat Valencia aims to help boosting and promoting the Spanish furniture and light industry. Companies will present their new products and developments, not only to national agents and sales points, but also to international buyers and specifiers.

Habitat Valencia will be brimming with a huge commercial offering from the 400-plus companies and brands exhibiting and also with a full programme of parallel events and activities. The nude Ágora, the Actiu Meeting Point and the Design Associations National Congress will be featuring a number of lectures complemented by exhibitions and the Valencia Disseny Week’s own programme of events.

The other great lecture forum at Hábitat 2017 aside from the nude Ágora is to be found on manufacturer Actiu’s stand. Designated the ‘Actiu Meeting Point’, it will be the venue for a number of talks relating to innovation and design such as those set to be given by Éxito, RED and Miguel Angel Julià (Nuklee) about new business models in the retail sector. A number of lectures are also due to be delivered there including one by Muriel Altunaga of architectural consultancy CBR, one on colour and trends by Karl Bertilsson and another by Rodrigo Martínez about the identity and positioning of Brand Spain. On Thursday evening the Actiu Meeting Point will also be hosting a special “Design Party” to celebrate the Alicante-based company recently winning the National Design Award.

The intensive programme of lectures is being supplemented by the fifth Associations of Designers National Conference (5ENAD), which will be running in parallel with Feria Hábitat Valencia. Taking place at the Events Centre on 21st and 22nd September, the conference will bring together design professionals from all over the country and will be featuring the maiden speech by Emma Fromberg of the Elle McArthur Foundation. Several other spaces, such as the trade associations’ (Anieme, furniture and Fedai, lighting) stands will be hosting talks and meetings with professionals from both sectors.

We selected some products news that will be presented during the 2017 edition:

Almerich

The brand founded by Antonio Almerich Villanueva in 1943, is preparing to celebrate these “75 years of ligh” launching the MOON collection, signed by the Valencian studio Agus-Kim, based on the astral inspiration that illuminates the space recalling the nights of full moon. Its minimalist design and the combination of its geometric forms make it have a strong character and a balanced disorder. It consists of: table lamp, floor lamp and suspension lamp.

On the other hand and on the occasion of the recent ADCV gold award in the category of best lighting product, Almerich launches from the hand of Estudio Savage a mini edition of COCO, one of the products that better acceptance is having in the national design panorama.

COCO small retains the same proportions and materials on a smaller scale, making it possible to incorporate it in reduced surfaces, shelves and auxiliary tables. The warmth of its light and the movement of its dome in all directions are maintained as a sign of identity in this minimalistic piece.

Brokis

The leading Czech manufacturer of exquisite handblown glass lighting, is showcasing the new collections for the second time in Spain at the Feria Hábitat in Valencia. Against an industrial backdrop designed by Brokis art director Lucie Koldova, the new refined table light collection MACARON and new pendant lights KNOT and PURO are purposefully placed highlights in a setting of the brand’s portfolio of premium lights.
