Luis Alberto Arrivillaga is a young designer from Guatemala, based now in Milan, where he continued his studies and began his work as a designer. Last year, with much success, he participated in our Talent’s Manifesto, and this year will be present at the Salone del Mobile in Milan with a selection of his most successful projects. The Tres hanger, for example, presented just to Talent’s Manifesto, the function of which is declared by the form: exclusively composed of three axes, three screws and a support so that it is simply resting on the wall supporting the weight of various clothes. More than light is almost invisible on the other hand the design of Quadra, a brilliant metal universal structure that allows you to slide inside any surface or shelf giving the opportunity to create a table suitable to each type of environment. The result is surprising because the product plays a perfect rectangle that appears to float in the air without using any resistance. Practicality and versatility, features that are also present in Balotaro, a bookend that can be placed on three different sides becoming each time an object with a different form. The materials used, cast iron and wood, contribute to the basic design, giving strength and modernity. This year’s novelty, the Stan table, which will be presented at Salone del Mobile as a prototype, meets the criteria of purity and simplicity of his way to draw: low, made of glass and tubular steel powder coated. The shape of the pedestal is particularly interesting because it represents the balance between its parts, creating a self-supporting and visually light structure. A clear aesthetic, where the function is the primary inspiration to create consistent and linear design products, where beauty is an immediate consequence of simplicity.
