An interesting novelty comes from South America, the one presented by the young Abel Carcamo Segovia, industrial designer and professor at the University of the Americas in Santiago, Chile. Carcamo draws a lamp, the New Edition Terracotta Lamp, created as an experiment carried on closely with the Chilean artisans, thus uniting personality, innovation and traditional techniques to create an extremely contemporary item. The shape is what essentially defines the lamp, whose main goal is to outline unusual plays of light and shadows, arising from irregular angles, being able in this way to go to illuminate different types of environments. To industrialize the design process, the main structure of the lamp is obtained through the ceramic molds. Different finishes can be applied, such as gold, platinum, white or pure black. You can also generate a material contrast on the upper base of the luminaire using different types of polished metal such as aluminum, copper or bronze. An interesting project, whose archetypal shape is an invitation at observation and act as a direct link between the traditional Chilean manufacturing and a contemporary minimalist aesthetic.
