November 9, 2020 – November 14, 2020 all-day
Dubai Design District (d3)
Dubai - United Arab Emirates

This year, Dubai Design Week will again take place at its main hub in Dubai Design District (d3), presenting original experiences with physical distancing measures in place and with a focus on addressing the role of the creative community in redefining the way we will live in the near and far future.

Adapting to new realities and current shifts, the festival will offer new opportunities for the creative community by giving centre stage to the local and regional talent. The revised programme includes an open call for the Abwab 2020 pavilion, a new UAE-designer focused exhibition, a thematic focus for outdoor installations and public interventions and a hybrid talks programme that challenges pressing topics and creates dialogue, continuing to engage our global audiences.

Dubai Design Week is the region’s largest creative festival, reflecting Dubai’s position as design capital of the Middle East.

Held under the patronage of HH Sheikha Latifa Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors, Dubai Culture & Arts Authority. Dubai Design Week is the largest creative festival in the Middle East, reflecting Dubai’s position as the regional capital of design. The six-day programme is made up of events covering a range of design disciplines including architecture, product, furniture, interior and graphic design, the majority of which are free to attend and accessible for both industry and public.

Dubai Design Week provides an accessible meeting point for the global design community, a platform for regional design and acts as a catalyst for the growth of the creative community in Dubai and the UAE. The 2018 edition attracted 75,000 visitors to d3 alone who attended the varied programme of design-related events, exhibitions, performances, awards, talks, workshops and experiences.

Key components of Dubai Design Week include the region’s leading design fair, Downtown Design; Global Grad Show, which brings together projects from 100 of the most innovative universities across the world; Abwab, the curated and interactive project containing original design from the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia; alongside an extensive talks and workshop programme.

Cementing Dubai as a creative capital of the region and positioning Dubai as a central meeting point, reaffirming Dubai as a global gateway city, Dubai Design Week aims to provide a dynamic environment where design meets opportunity and a platform for enabling the region’s talent and growing the creative community, enabling economic diversity and development as well as increase public awareness and appreciation of all aspects of design.
