The ADI Awards -organized by the ADI-FAD Industrial Design Association- merge together three recognitions in different fields of design from Catalonia and Spain: the Delta Awards for industrial design professionals and businesses, awarded since 1961; the ADI Medals for Students for product design students, awarded since 1976; and the ADI Culture Awards for projects that enhance the value of design culture, since 2016.The deadline for entering the ADI Awards has been extended to 25 February. The juries’ verdict and the presentation of the awards will take place on 16 June 2020 at a ceremony due to take place at the Disseny Hub Barcelona, as part of Barcelona Design Week.

40TH EDITION OF THE DELTA AWARDS

Ethically responsible toward individuals, society and the environment, new products comprise the tangible and intangible culture of an era, and the Delta Awards help to record and highlight this heritage in Catalonia and in Spain. For the 40th of the Delta Awards, seeking to better assess the typology of the products entered, the awards have been divided into 8 categories: Mobility, Outdoor Equipment, Indoor Equipment, Lighting, Complements and Tools, Design for the Body, Digital Devices and Packaging. The products selected by the Delta Awards’ Committee of Experts will automatically receive the «Bronze Delta» distinction. Then they will then compete for the Silver Delta and the Gold Delta.

28TH EDITION OF THE ADI MEDALS

Created in 1976, the ADI Medals was founded to contribute to the building of bridges between the academic sphere and the industrial world. ADI-FAD is calling all young designers who have recently completed their education in Spanish learning centres to enter their dissertation, master’s or postgraduate projects. This prize enjoys a strong tradition in the country’s design scene, encouraging the future talent of the younger generations.

3RD EDITION OF THE ADI CULTURE AWARD

The ADI Culture Award seeks to promote the public recognition of any projects that help in the social and conceptual fostering and updating of product design or serve to incentivize the discipline’s dialogue, ideas and activity. The Project category will recognize any projects completed in the past three years, while the Career category aims to pay homage to persons or institutions that, thanks to their work over the years, their achievements and their influence in the world of design, have contributed to evolving the discipline and integrating it into society.

“The new edition of the ADI Awards has the goal of celebrating excellence in Spanish design and of highlighting its importance as an exceptional tool for generating wealth in an industrial economy, together with its key role as an expression of our social and cultural values,” stated Salvi Plaja, president of ADI-FAD.
