It is an unexpected combination the one that Portuguese brand TCC Whitestone is able to create between material and aesthetics. Based in Oporto, the design brand has presented a new collection of products at 100% Design in London, made with stone and marble. The peculiarity lies in the style of vaguely retro traditional furniture, reminiscent of walnut furniture from the 40s or the 50s, which communicate, for shapes and dimensions, lightness and essentiality. Features that designers of TCC Whitestone are capable of achieving with heavy materials such as marble or granite, from Greece, Italy and Portugal, complementary to wood and aluminum. This way they play with volumes, to create different perceptions and achieve the perfect balance: this can be seen in Podium sideboard, which alternating cubic forms of different sizes, spread horizontally the precious Estremoz Pink Aurora Vigaria marble. The same material, mixed with elegant grains of walnut wood, compose the more linear Trigono, constructing a chromatic contrast as well as an empty-full effect: everything looking extremely light, raised on thin trapezoidal lacquered steel legs. A suspension that reaches its maximum in Atir console, which destabilizes for the idea of instability which it gives at first glance: it is supported by only one leg, that being a single piece of milled brass, guarantees the necessary solidity. Lines, of aesthetics and concept, which run through the entire production, ranging from solutions for kitchen, living room and bathroom, an interesting perspective which, rather than de-contextualization, speaks of an innovative reinterpretation.
