The designer David Obendorfer proposed a reinterpretation of the historical model of Renault, the legendary Renault 4 (children of 60s-70s will remember it well). Starting from his childhood memories, he made sketches relating just to his memory to not lose the feeling that the car gave him as a child, establishing this way the basis of the main lines for the new edition.  “I tried to explore the style and capture the proportions that give a strong personality in this model: long silhouette, very short front overhang, the body that hangs forward, differentiated arches, front with headlights tight back, straight back doors, etc.” The volumes were obviously updated, respecting – among other things – the standard of protection for pedestrians in general and the current needs in terms of safety and comfort. The design that results is the one of a simple and functional car, nice-looking and vaguely hippie, just as the first version.
