BIO – The Biennial of Design in Ljubljana is organized by the Museum of Architecture and Design (MAO), and is an international platform for new approaches in design. BIO was founded in 1963, making it the first design biennial in Europe. Witnessing the many shifts and changes of the last 56 years, BIO has seen design transition from its birth at the crossroads of industrialization and modernism to a discipline that permeates all layers of life and human endeavor. Today, BIO is structured as a long-term collaborative process, where teams of designers and multidisciplinary agents develop alternatives to established systems. BIO works as a testing ground, where design is employed as a tool to question and improve our daily life, among different and multidisciplinary design approaches that touch systems, production, services, scientific research, humanistic issues, and unexpected conditions for the production of our habitat. The diverse array of topics resonates with both local and global demands, with comprehensive projects aimed at creating resilient structures that develop over time, beyond the duration of the Biennial.

In 2023, Clerkenwell Design Week returned to EC1, 23-25 May to showcase thousands of cutting-edge products in the sun. The UK’s leading design festival celebrated London’s creative hub with more than 160 showrooms, 600 events, thousands of products, installations, brand activations, topical talks, and more.

The next edition will be held taking over London’s most creative neighborhood from 21 to 23 May 2024.

Manifesta, the European Nomadic Biennial, changes location every two years. Founded in the early 1990s, Manifesta rethinks the relationship between culture and civic society, investigating and instigating positive social change through contemporary culture in response to, and in close dialogue with, the social sphere of the Host City and its communities.

Each edition of Manifesta is managed by a mix of permanent international team members and local specialists. Manifesta works from its offices in Amsterdam and the Host City.

Manifesta 15 Barcelona

In 2024, Manifesta, the European Nomadic Biennial, will come to Barcelona and its larger Metropolitan region in Catalonia for its 15^th edition.

Manifesta 15 in Barcelona has been invited to explore pressing public debates, based around the topics of the democratization of public life; the defense of public space in the face of privatization; the need to combine social progress with environmental challenges; fragility in terms of housing, the movement of people, capital, data, and economic as well as ecological crises.
