After successful lights collections such as Ether, Reed and Mercure, French designer Patrick Jouin signs a new collection for Italian lighting company LEUCOS

Since 2004, the collaboration between Patrick Jouin and the Italian lighting company Leucos, has launched successful lights collections such as Ether, Reed and Mercure which, with their elegant timeless lines, already expressed the will of the French designer to create elegant harmony of shapes and materials, by designing sustainable forms, where creativity is always a source of innovation.

In 2021, Patrick Jouin designs the Aurelia collection: a large bubble in Murano hand-blown glass pendants in transparent or smoke grey combined with a metal structure in hand-finished vintage brass, matte gunmetal or glossy warm white. Two shapes in two dimensions and six colour combinations with matching canopy. “A new simple, archetypal silhouette” as described by Patrick Jouin.

Among the designers, we collaborate with, we wanted Patrick Jouin to design the first lamp. We believed that he would create a new project for us where glass is the distinguishing material and elegance is the signature style” says Abramo Manfrotto, who acquired the historic Italian lighting company at the end of March 2019.

The designer harnessed Leucos’s expertise for this collection of lights, combining cutting-edge LED lighting technology with the craftsmanship of Venetian glassmaking. Innovation and tradition, are like two opposing inclinations that come together in unison. On one hand, this large piece of hand-blown glass, stretching downwards, calls on all the qualities of the company’s skills. On the other, as an expression of weight, the cone rises upwards towards its anchorage to the ceiling.

Its metal structure houses all the working parts of the light, including two integrated LED light sources, both direct via its aluminium cone, and indirect via its glass bubble. On top of these is also a dimming option with the ability to turn on/off/dim independently, thus offering a range of lighting possibilities.

Smart disassembly system to remove the glass diffuser for quick and easy cleaning.
