Felip Polar Studio chose the Pecas collection (freckles in English) by Buit Valencia, designed by the Valencian duo CUAL, to define the atmosphere of its buffet restaurant—a fusion of sensory design and artisanal materiality

A new concept in wall coverings, characterised by the influence of art, whose mission is to evoke purity, sensitivity, naturalness, craftsmanship, tradition, and sustainability. All within a timeless and elegant context. This is the philosophy of the new designer ceramic tile brand, Buit Valencia.

The Pecas collection by Buit Valencia was designed by the Valencian duo CUAL Studio, based on their eponymous art collection. It consists of two ceramic tiles that create a pattern with infinite volumetric combinations.

The collection is inspired by small, rounded spots—pecas means freckles in Spanish—that appear irregularly on the skin when exposed to the sun. Organic shapes fill the walls, sometimes densely, sometimes more sparsely, as if the sun itself were caressing the surface and painting on it.

Buit’s concept is to recover the nobility of the material, so that, together with art and design, its collections become timeless pieces. The coverings feature a raw finish, designed to highlight the purity of the material, eliminating artifice and emphasising composition, volume, and form.

Freckles are considered a sign of natural beauty, freshness, and uniqueness, celebrated as a charming feature and sometimes regarded as a symbol of good luck or magic in various cultures.

For its project at the Hotel Aubamar in Palma de Mallorca—where light, calm, and materiality prevail—Felip Polar Studio chose the Pecas covering to define the atmosphere of its buffet restaurant, a combination of sensory design and artisanal textures.

The tiles, made from white clay in a matte NUDE glaze, measuring 25×25 cm with a thickness of 10–12 mm, are conceived as art pieces, offering architects and interior designers infinite possibilities during installation.

About Buit Valencia

Buit Valencia is a new designer ceramic brand producing floor and wall tiles with a clear mission: to integrate art, architecture, and design into its collections. Based in Valencia, the brand emphasises artisanal processes and meticulous attention to detail at every stage of production. Buit is characterised by timeless design that transcends passing trends while maintaining aesthetic, emotional, and functional value over time. The finish of Buit’s collections is raw, aiming to highlight the purity of the material, remove artifice, and emphasise composition, volume, and form. With the goal of experimenting with unconventional forms in the world of ceramics, Buit collaborates with designers to develop concepts that seamlessly integrate floor and wall tiles into the overall design of a space. Their aim is to innovate with a new three-dimensional concept that elevates ceramic work to another spatial level and decontextualises it from its original use. Buit collaborates with architects and interior designers so that ceramic elements become part of an artistic installation. Their stand, titled “La Curva Essenziale” and designed by the Madrid-based studio Bardo by Emiliano Domingo, was a finalist at the Best Stand Awards at Interihotel 2025.

About CUAL Studio

Art, creative direction, graphic design, and web. Founded in Valencia by Laura Carmona and Carolina Pascual, CUAL Studio treats design as a living process. Each project starts from an initial intuition and develops around an idea of rhythm, coherence, and intention. The starting point is not style, but meaning: understanding what a project requires to become relevant, authentic, and recognisable. In a context dominated by speed and visual overexposure, CUAL Studio adopts an approach based on listening and emotional awareness—not as an instinctive gesture, but as a strategic tool. Creative direction balances thought and sensitivity, analysis and perception. Spaces, objects, images, and experiences are conceived from the essential, letting materials, light, volumes, and voids build a clear narrative. Design is language and structure, not decoration; it is not intended to fill, but to shape atmospheres capable of generating connection and pause. Every project has its own identity to identify and interpret. Brand development is approached as a deep process, starting with understanding what defines it before communicating it. Identities are not mass-produced: they are analysed, clarified, and translated into coherent, lasting forms.
