A pioneer in its field, Vondom was one of the first companies to bring design out of the house, extending the discipline also to outdoor furniture that became examples of preponderant and well defined aesthetics, which are able on their own to claim the entire architectural project of outdoor space. Vondom did this working, edition after edition, with the most important designers in the world, that had to deal not only with the pure form of the object but also the perks, and the constraints, of materials and structures intended to stay outdoors. At Salone del Mobile this year Vondom show-cased 11 new products, born thanks to the design of personalities such as Javier Mariscal, Ramón Esteve, Eugeni Quitllet and Ora-Ito. The projects are pretty cross-cutting, in the sense that although being united under the Vondom style, which prefers essential products, with lightweight and clean lines, each of them travels on tracks that are able to set a dialogue. In this way a system of traditional sofas can play with space through the different configurations, while futuristic lamps become, upside-down, vaguely retro vases. The compactness of what looks like a natural shape reveals, once opened, the comfort of a seat, while soft and liquid forms hide the double function of sitting and sophisticated lighting.
