On the occasion of the centenary of the Cimbali, on 2012, it opened MUMAC, the first and only museum in the world dedicated to history, technology, design and culture of professional espresso coffee machines. A space that does not arise only as a place to observe and learn about these objects, but also to accommodate a wide variety of cultural events. It’s MUMAC in fact the promoter of the first “Cimbali DesignArt Workshop”, which was launched last November in partnership with architecture and design magazine IQD. It is a creative workshop in collaboration with two important and historic Italian Academies: the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan and the Accademia di Belle Arti in Verona. Both institutions have joined the initiative by entering into the academic program of some courses the development of creativity for the realization of works borderline between art and design related to the theme of the espresso machine. Everything will take place with an intermediate step during Milan Design Week with the valuation of the work in progress, and it will end with a prize-giving event in the spaces of MUMAC, where the projects of the selected works will be carried out and exposed, and the winners will be awarded with a scholarship.
