In the words of Álvaro Matías, director of Madrid Design Festival: “FORMA is born with the intention of shining a light on an area of design that until now had no dedicated platform in Spain: collectible design.” This new design event in Madrid is the result of ongoing dialogue with the sector throughout the festival’s early years. The ultimate goal is to generate new professional opportunities and establish Madrid as a key international destination for contemporary design. FORMA is conceived as a new professional reference space, aimed at connecting designers, studios, brands, galleries, publishers and collectors, and at bringing visibility to a field that sits at the intersection of creation, craftsmanship, cultural industry and the art market. Over five days, FORMA will bring into dialogue established brands, emerging studios, artisan workshops and specialised galleries, reflecting the diversity and vitality of a sector in full evolution. Its exhibition programme will offer a cross-disciplinary journey through the practices, aesthetics and processes that are shaping contemporary collectible design, both nationally and internationally. CONTAMINATION X CORCHO by Vasco Fragoso In addition to the exhibition area, FORMA will feature (Per)FORMA, a professional programme of talks, presentations and training activities aimed at a specialised audience of industry professionals and opinion leaders. The programme is designed to foster the exchange of knowledge, strengthen the creative network and generate real opportunities for collaboration among the sector’s key players. With this new initiative, which also enjoys the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Industry and Cultural Action, Madrid Design Festival reinforces its role as a strategic platform for contemporary design — driving an economic ecosystem that benefits the entire creative fabric of the city and the country, and positioning its professionals as essential references in the international market.
