Italian designer Simone Bonanni signs a collection of three limited‑edition cues for Becue, a company specialising in carbon fibre billiard cues

Challenging the aesthetic and structural limits of what was previously considered possible with carbon fibre applied to billiard cues, Italian designer Simone Bonanni signs a collection of three limited‑edition cues for Becue. The series, limited to ten pieces per model, is dedicated to collectors and enthusiasts of billiards and design, where art, technology, and performance meet.

Secret Skills is a project that goes beyond convention: Stillness, Genius, and Method form the collection, each characterised by unique inlays. Inlays on carbon fibre represent a rare and recent practice, made possible thanks to an innovative technology developed by Becue in 2024 with the introduction to the market of the first carbon fibre cue featuring inlays.

The process combines mechanical machining performed by sophisticated CNC equipment with artisanal finishing. The inlays are manually filled with specific resins and wood. This reverses the traditional process of the past, where wood served as the base material, while now it becomes the inlay within the carbon fibre.

During the same year, Becue, a company specialised in carbon fibre billiard cues, continued to refine this technique, pushing its limits further in terms of complexity and materials used.

While respecting the tradition of the billiard cue, the limits of carbon fiber in creating complex inlays are explored and overcome, giving life to a new aesthetic language that speaks of modernity, through the revolutionary design of a billiard cue and the materials used, namely carbon fiber and of tradition, through the use of wood inlays with chromatic references to cues from the past.

All of this without compromising the performance and exceptional feeling recognised in Becue products.

The collaboration with Bonanni combines Becue’s technological expertise with the vision of one of the most appreciated contemporary product designers, known for his sensitive approach to form and material, who was able to immerse himself in Becue’s vision and product language, respectfully and boldly redefining its aesthetic boundaries.

The names of the three cues evoke not only the hidden qualities every billiard player must possess, but also the fundamental virtues behind their creation: Stillness, Method, and Genius.

The result is a concrete, material, and empirical synthesis of Becue’s vision, where new technologies and materials, capable of opening new creative horizons, cannot exist without human sensitivity and perception. Through mastery and control of the available tools, and through rigorous method in their use, something new, surprising, and brilliant can emerge, transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary.
