The theme of the second edition of the Brescia Design Festival, curated by Filippo Abrami – design in corso, with the patronage of the Municipality of Brescia, in collaboration with CarminiAmo, is the transformation, understood as a change of form and meaning. Transformation as an evolutive process.

The event, held from 21 April to 21 May in Corso Mameli and Corso Garibaldi, occupy the unused shop windows and commercial spaces made available by the Corso delle Mercanzie Committee with installations, design works and experimental researches by independent creative young designers, national and international. A month of exhibitions, conferences, ateliers, workshops and a series of talks to enrich the educational offer for the interested audience and for schools (calendar at www.designincorso.com).

We recommend:

–  at Musical ZOO in Corso Mameli 45, works by Duncan Gravestock (Studio Anark), author of the illustration used as the official graphic of the Festival.

–  the satellite show LIVE IN A GHOST TOWN with photos of Thibaut Derien  (April 27 – May 21, Shadow Gallery).

–  Sunday, May 7th to 11th, in the historic center of Brescia, the ephemeral PLAYGROUND, for children 0 to 99 years old, created by Basurama with scraps from the local textile industry and obsolete school material.

–  on Monday, 8, the young Italian designer Sara Ricciardi meets the Brescia glass artisan Chiara Valentini with whom, during a week, experimented with different techniques and materials to make a collection. The atelier is documented by Camerae magazine, aproject, created by the collaboration between Jessica Soffiati and Francesca Iovene, who tells the most intimate parts of the artists sincerely and immersely through the study-visit. A new way to tell about their work and their journey: the interview and story about space and works are complemented by an important audio component that strengthens and amplifies the image of the environment, the work of the artist and of his personality.
