Passing by the Hi-Macs stand at Interieur a number of questions popped in my mind. “Who are they? What do they do? What is their product?” I am ashamed to actually admit it but I didn’t know the brand and I couldn’t understand what kind of stuff they proposed. Analysing the stand more closely I found out that all the furniture and all the surfaces were actually made of one and only material. Declined in a large range of colours, and moulded the way they wanted to design it, I discovered a new way of living. Composed of acrylic, natural minerals and pigments, the surface just appears a visually seamless texture, non porous and smooth. Besides being an aesthetic material, it is also functional, robust and hygienic. Because of that, it is often used for hospitals, laboratories and kitchens. Hi-Macs, part of LG Hausys, is now present in 21 nations. The Belgian importer is “Engels Design and Decoration”, situated in Antwerpen. Besides proposing Hi-Macs, they collaborate with designers and propose to the individuals the use of their machines to mould the product. This “untraditional” article has all the technical features requested, it can be personalized and respects the environmental standards. Thanks to its characteristics, its future can be described as the new “everywhere material”, everywhere to be seen.
