After Filigree Floor Lamp, young designer Rick Tegelaar designs for Moooi the new Meshmatics Chandelier that merges engineering with elegance.

Tegelaar’s designs shed a new light on undervalued materials and existing techniques, resulting in the industrial-inspired products.

As a material-oriented designer, Rick Tegelaar’s work is characterized by the use of very uncommon materials, finding new beautifully shaped forms with an innovative approach. Since his childhood, Tegelaar is interested in machinery and mechanical processes. This fascination for engineering, combined with his delicate sense of aesthetics, is reflected in his work for Moooi.

The Meshmatics Chandelier reveals the full potential of wire netting, which is ingeniously stretched and moulded into three layers. Its wire mesh structure reflects and diffuses light.

Born in Rotterdam in 1986, Rick Tegelaar graduated with honours from the ArtEZ Arnhem product design department in 2011. Since then he works independently from his studio and workshop in Arnhem.
