Naoki Ono and Yuki Yamamoto are two young Japanese designers who in 2011 have started Yoy design studio, with a purpose in mind: do not put limits on what the imagination can achieve. It is for this reason that in their projects the expectations are always swing, they play with the senses and with the idea of an alternative use, drawing objects between real and unreal, where everything is never exactly what it seems. As in the Drawer series, containers to stick to the wall, which they give the impression of coming out from, transforming it into a great imaginary drawer chest. Playing on black and white, and on three different sizes, each drawer has a mirror inside, to give the idea of depth beyond the wall. Surprise component also in Light, the floor and table lamps apparently composed just from the pole but, once turned on, the Led luminaire casts on the wall a socket shaped light, for that wow-factor that, in design, never hurts. Leave a little taken aback the balance of Protrude, a tray that seems to fall from the table (but obviously does not fall): it is thanks to a clip that attaches to the tabletop and keep it stable in spite of its precarious position. In addition to the destabilizing effect is also useful for small tables because it takes up so little space on the work space. Funny objects, but well conceived, which achieve to go beyond the real and concrete, opening the mind and breaking away from what we see every day.
